👋Hi Friends,
📆This Week’s Topic
This week we will be discussing Federal Government employment cuts and an update on the labor market in general. I talked about the job cuts that happened in the federal workforce last year in this article. There have been lots of updates in the government job situation and a few overall changes in the labor market. The Federal Government is continuing to cut jobs at a rapid rate. This is fueled by the Trump Administration which is aggressively cutting the federal labor market.
💳 Cause & Effect
The reason President Trump has been cutting jobs in the Federal Government is to cut costs even more. Trump has been aggressively cutting costs by closing USAID and lowering funding for government agencies. But, one of the more brutal tactics is cutting off thousands of employees from the government. He even offered increased pay to federal employees for not working for less than a year if they agreed to resign from their job at the Federal Government. This is making the economy go haywire as there were over 3 million workers in the government before the mass layoffs began.
📊 Statistics
July has been a month with a lot of downsizing. In July, the Federal Government has gotten rid of 12,000 jobs. As I explained in the article linked in “This Week’s Topic” this year and last year has been a pretty bad year for federal workers. Since the beginning of the year the government has laid off 84,000 employees. The federal workforce went from 3.01 million workers down to 2.93 million workers at the end of July. Not only were lots of workers fired but 154,000 employees agreed to resign and the workers get paid for a couple of months without working before being officially fired. It costs $6 billion for the US to close USAID.
The Real Cost of a 1-Day Gutter Upgrade
We studied what professional roofers are saying about gutter guard prices in 2025… and here’s what we found out.
Finding the best price comes down to just two simple things:
Cut out the middleman and get a solution that installs over your existing gutters in a day or less.
If done right, you can afford the best gutter guards along with increased property value and even a 100% no-clog guarantee.
You can learn all the basics and how to ‘skip’ the middleman with (fair) local pricing on this new website.

🔚 Outcome
In the future the Federal Government will try to cut even more jobs until the physically can’t cut any more. Also, the economy will be more majorly effected by these layoffs. As I stated earlier in the article, there were more than 3 million Americans employed by the government. Now there are only 2.95 million.
⛱ Consumer Effect
Consumers are going to have to face a lot of trouble. Currently, in Washington DC private schools aren’t able to reach their admission goals due to not enough people applying. This is because a lot of the government workers live in DC. Also, with USAID cut our country will not be able to provide aid to other countries and that will decrease our reputation as a country. A lot of consumers are government workers and those employees will face a lot of stress about whether they will still be keep their jobs
🏢Business Effect
Businesses may be impacted as these 2.9 million workers will be stressed about their finances and not be able to afford as many products or services from businesses. For the other workers that were fired, they will not be spending much as well.
⏳ Final Summary
In Summary, this year 84,000 jobs have been cut in the Federal Government workforce. This has been bad for the economy and is likely to continue with even more jobs being cut in the near future. The government workers are going to spend less because they are stressed about keeping the jobs are keeping up with their finances. Businesses are also impacted because they are getting less customers due to the workers being stressed.
